Service Description: A newcomer settlement agency and global education resource centre

Settlement Services - assistance for new immigrants or refugees to settle, adapt and integrate into London * includes orientation, referral, interpretation, language assessment, counselling, workshops/speakers and multicultural/community development * assists with directing to family doctors

Library Settlement Services - a Settlement Worker is available at the Public Library and its branch locations to provide information and referrals for immigrants new to London

Newcomer Settlement Program - information and referral * assistance filling out government forms * Commissioner of oaths for original documents * supportive counselling, problem solving * settlement and orientation for immigrants and refugees

Resettlement Assistance Program - offers airport reception * provides temporary accommodation if needed * helps find permanent accommodation * assistance with immediate medical needs, financial and community orientation * linkages to federal and provincial programs * referrals to community resources and services

Partners in Caring - provides support to Government-Assisted Refugees for their medical, emotional and psychological needs during their first year in Canada * on-site examination clinic * group and individual counselling * community education

Host Program - long-time residents of Canada assist newcomers with English, employment, social activities, education and health system for 3-6 month * group activities like walking, cooking, children's crafts, computer mentoring with Canadians, weekly conversational circles * family summer day camp * youth leadership training program

Translation Services - provides official translations in over 60 languages * regular and certified translations available

Job Search Workshop for Newcomers (15+ years) - 3-day job search * clients learn together as a group then have an opportunity to meet with a Job Search Workshop Facilitator for individual assistance in developing resumes, cover letters, references and determining the next steps to securing employment in Canada

LINC Language Assessment - Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) - assessment of English language skills for settlement-based language training program * referral to community-based organization LINC programs for English as a second Language (ESL) classes

LINC Home Study - English language and life skills study

Immigration Portal Website - www.welcome.london.ca * many valuable online and local resources available for newcomers, those working with newcomers and those looking to immigrate to Canada and/or London

Library and Resources - over 2000 books, 300 videos, games and cultural artifacts * collection includes multiculturalism, international issues, First Nations, Africa, Asia and Latin America * arranges community speakers on various issues related to cultures, countries and cross cultural communication by request * six public computers with Internet access and office software
